This free test, the 16 Personalities Indicator, is an introspective self-report questionnaire designed to indicate differing psychological preferences in how individuals perceive the world around them and make decisions.

This type of test was created by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers. It is based on the conceptual theory proposed by Carl Jung, who speculated that humans utilize four principal psychological functions (sensation, intuition, feeling, thinking) to experience the world and that one of these functions is dominant for an individual most of the time.

The theory of personality types suggests that: An individual is primarily either Extraverted (E) or Introverted (I), Sensing (S) or Intuitive (N), Thinking (T) or Feeling (F), and Judging (J) or Perceiving (P). The various combinations of these basic preferences create 16 different Personality Types:

• Analysts: INTJ, INTP, ENTJ, ENTP
• Diplomats: INFJ, INFP, ENFJ, ENFP
• Sentinels: ISTJ, ISFJ, ESTJ, ESFJ
• Explorers: ISTP, ISFP, ESTP, ESFP
